Tips for
Maintaining Your ECO-LAWN
• Mow high. Adjust mower height to 2 to 3 inches. Longer
grass equals more exposure to the sun, providing more
effective food storage and better color for each blade of
grass. Higher lawns also crowd out crabgrass.
• Maintain your mower. Sharp mower blades clip the grass
while dull blades only tear it, leading to dead white tips
on the grass.
• Never cut more than one-third of the blade-length of your
grass at once. Cutting too much of the blade removes the
plant's "food factory" and sends it into shock.
• Water deeply but infrequently. This encourages roots to
grow deep and helps the lawn withstand drought.
• Don't overwater. Overwatering encourages fungal disease
and doesn't promote deep root growth.
• Machine aeration actually cuts the root system of the
grass and damages a lawn. It's more beneficial to allow
earthworms to do the job.
• Grub infestations can be effectively treated with the
application of beneficial nematodes (microscopic worms that
feed on the grub larvae).
